The understated simplicity and beauty of a natural stone floor will enhance any area of your home
We were approached by Flore Village Council to say they wanted to erect something to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the Queen being on the throne, along with some new village entrances signs. After much deliberation, the design was agreed. The stone type was a Great Tew surround with a Bath Base bed stone for the letters. The stones were chosen because they are in keeping with a lot of the houses that are in Flore.
Since the village signs were erected, we have had many enquiries from villagers and builders wanting similar signs. They make a stunning entrance to anywhere!
How refreshing to see a totally individual village name!
Occasionally Sean Collins does bespoke carvings such as this. it was made for an estate manager with whom we had dealt with for many years upon his retirement. Sean and the estate manager had a favourite pastime in common!
An interesting project we were involved with on a new build house was creating a sliding wall of stone. So instead of opening bi-fold doors onto the garden, the client wanted to move the wall! The photographs illustrate what we achieved...
EDMUNDTHORPE HALL - ORIGINAL BAY WINDOW DISMANTLED AND REBUILT IN A NEW POSITION TO HAVE A NEW PROPERTY BUILT AROUND IT!
This was a unique project that we were asked to carryout. The original Edmundthorpe Hall had fallen down and the only part left standing in the grounds was the bay window. The current owner was building a new property and wanted to incorporate the orginal bay window into the new house. We had to shore up the bay window, record every stone and then painstakingly take it down, clean off the old bricks and stone and set aside for re-use. Then months later when the new house was at the right stage, we rebuilt the bay window using as much as possible of the original materials and allowing for some new stone ashlar, window jambs and 3 new heads with keystones.
It was a challenging project to say the least but a successful one!
